Welcome to Euclid Art Association

This is where your art journey begins

Message from our President:    Rozenia Cunningham

Don't we love this winter?!! Who's having fun in the snow and of course making art? What space in your home or studio gives you a cozy feeling that encourages you to want to create? During these chilly and possibly gloomy days find the light to create art when you may feel uninspired. Of course, you can contact a fellow EAA member for a spark to chat and share ideas. Keep producing, growing, and experimenting. Let your art make you feel relaxed and cozy.

Also, let's spark and ignite our art workshops. Some of you were interested in the Oct. 2025 Demonstration with Barbara Martin for the "Love of Birds" scratch board art. Visit martinartwork.com.  We need two or three individuals to facilitate this Spring or Summer class on a Saturday. A Workshop Coordinator position is available for you. Contact Rozenia for details.

Join us for our February Meeting

Our next monthly meeting is Monday February 2, 2026, at 7:00pm on Zoom. Timothy Callaghan will demonstrate “A Still Life in Gouache.” His focus is to make art of what he sees in the ordinariness of life – moments that transcend the mundane and provide a deeper reflection through daily practice of drawing and painting. “I engage with immediate mediums such as pencil, ink, watercolor, and gouache.” He paints landscapes and still lifes, such as residential houses, gas stations, and the Irishtown Bend area of Cleveland - the overlooked, quiet beauty in the everyday, whether it is a neglected house plant scattered across a floor or snowy trucks in a parking lot.  Callaghan uses a signature, thick brushstroke technique, often in gouache to create a "mosaic" or "pixelated" effect, lending an illustrative, and sometimes, otherworldly quality to his scenes. He favors gouache, a medium that mirrors watercolor but offers the intensity of opaque pigment. This choice results in vibrant, unmodulated hues that define his work. The simplicity of his forms, combined with the boldness of his palette, creates a visual energy—an electrifying crackle—that adds life to the scene, transforming the ordinary into something extraordinary. Painting is about describing the sensation of seeing influenced by allowing the other the four senses to contribute.” A reminder will be sent along with the Zoom link a few days before.

Our Last Meeting - Thanks to Everyone Who Participated!

OUR LAST MEETING – THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED!

We kicked off the New Year with our popular Members Show and Tell Night…best way to get together on a cold and dark January night! We had 15 participants who shared their art work prompting discussions about the creative process, techniques, and media. Photo insert shows Charlene’s project for her granddaughter who takes horse riding lessons. Grandma’s challenge is to paint Amelia’s favorite flower, irises, on a plastic replica of a horse at the Kentucky Horse Park with acrylics in time for her 16th birthday in March.

    Artist Statement:

I think of the work I create as an artist as disrupted-derivative-realism. To me that means my art is usually inspired by something recognizable and is influenced by interpretation (mine and the viewers.) I like to use a variety of materials and techniques to create moods, add extra layers of interpretation, and communicate something special, in an effort to find the essence of my subject. I continually experiment with various techniques and materials: oil paint, acrylic, watercolor, fabric, paper, collage, applied to  canvas, hardboard, paper, by printmaking, painting, pasting, repurposing found objects. Exploring how the material and/or the technique influences the subject excites me as much as the subject.

I have purposefully devoted many hours learning how to express myself artistically. My education as an artist has included working with other artists, attending art classes at Cleveland State University, Cleveland Institute of Art, Community College, local workshops, private tutoring, trial-and-error, experimentation, research, and my very active imagination. I hope you enjoy my art and bring your own story to the work.
